Management Strategy
Serving as a model for clean energy buildings, the King Power Rangnam Complex—which houses both the downtown Duty-Free store and the corporate Head Office—officially commenced the operation of its Solar Roof system on June 21, 2024. The system has a generation capacity of 264.6 kWp, which is sufficient to power the building’s main air conditioning systems. This initiative represents a blueprint for the adoption of solar energy within large-scale urban service businesses.
Goal
To promote the utilization of renewable energy, specifically solar power, within the tourism business group, the company is dedicated to transitioning from conventional electricity sources to the use of solar energy, which is a clean and inexhaustible form of Renewable Energy. This involves installing Solar Roof systems on the company’s business premises to increase the proportion of clean energy consumption in the service sector and reduce external electricity dependence.
Project Highlight
The “Green Energy for Future Tourism” project was initiated to drive a tangible transition towards the utilization of renewable energy, particularly the substitution of electricity from fossil fuel sources—which generate greenhouse gases—with solar power. King Power has thoroughly studied the feasibility and proceeded with the installation of Solar Roof systems across its affiliated buildings, achieving a total generation capacity exceeding 6,859 kWp. This capacity can be utilized efficiently in various systems, including air conditioning, lighting, and building control systems.
Achievement
Installation of Solar Roof Systems: Implementing rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems across key buildings within the organization’s service business group, achieving a total generation capacity of up to 6,859 kilowatt-peak (kWp). This initiative tangibly reduces reliance on external electricity and facilitates the transition to clean energy utilization.
