Greenhouse Gas Management

Climate Change represents a critical global issue with far-reaching and continuous impacts on natural ecosystems, human livelihoods, and economies across all sectors. This is particularly true for the tourism sector, which fundamentally relies on natural resources such as climate, the environment, transportation infrastructure, and the sustainability of local communities. King Power Group, as a leading national organization in the tourism and lifestyle business, recognizes the crucial role of the private sector in collaborating with other parties to address the global warming crisis and natural disasters. Consequently, we have adopted the concept of Sustainable Development, guided by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as the core framework for our business operations.

Management Strategy

The company is not only dedicated to mitigating the environmental impact stemming from its operations but also prioritizes the organizational transition towards Carbon Neutrality and the subsequent advancement to Net Zero Emissions. This is achieved through comprehensive management across all dimensions of the business value chain. Furthermore, the organization focuses on engaging employees, partners, and all stakeholders to become a “Force for Change” through knowledge creation, awareness building, and concrete actions. This endeavor aims to drive business growth while maintaining a sustainable global equilibrium. Key operational focuses include Corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management, the utilization of renewable energy and green innovation, extending the sustainability concept to partners and the supply chain, fostering a Low-Carbon Organizational Culture, and preparing for natural disasters and climate uncertainties.

Goal

Decarbonizing the Value Chain: Implementing measures to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions across the organization’s entire value chain. This involves decreasing both direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2 and 3) GHG emissions stemming from core activities throughout the King Power business value chain, spanning internal operations, logistics, services, suppliers, and customer consumption and waste management.

Project Highlight

– Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory: Systematically collecting and analyzing GHG emissions data in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard. This inventory encompasses all five core operational sites, namely: Rangnam Head Office, Phuket, Khlong Chao Warehouse, Bang Bo Warehouse, and the Training Institute.

– Partnering as a Key Ally in the “Million Trees” Project: Integrating collaboration among the private sector, government agencies, and civil society to promote a livable, safe, and sustainable urban environment.

Achievement

The implementation has yielded an average annual reduction in grid electricity consumption of 10–15% following the installation of a 264.60 kWp Solar Rooftop system at the Head Office building. This initiative successfully reduces reliance on fossil fuel-based energy, effectively controls energy costs, and has resulted in a cumulative reduction of over 30,000 tons of CO₂e emissions. This covers Scope 1–3 emissions, as verified by the Carbon Footprint for Organization (CFO) report certified under the ISO 14064-1 standard.
